Anker Solix has unveiled the Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro in Berlin, a modular home battery that combines 5 kWh of storage with plug-in solar capability — but UK buyers will need to wait for a localised version.

The system was announced at an event in Berlin on 13 May. In its basic configuration, it connects to a standard household socket at 800W and can simultaneously supply households with up to 2.5 kW from its bidirectional inverter. Storage can be expanded from 5 kWh up to 30 kWh by adding extra battery units. Launch pricing starts at €1,499 (reduced from €1,999) with pre-orders open and deliveries starting after June.

The product is a significant step up from a basic plug-in solar kit. Where a standard 800W kit simply feeds generation into your home's circuit, the Solarbank 4 also stores surplus energy and can discharge during peak tariff periods or grid outages. The on-board AI manages charging around real-time electricity prices and weather data. That is a different proposition to a £400 entry-level kit, and it is priced accordingly.

There is a straightforward reason UK buyers cannot order one today: the socket is Schuko, the European standard, not the UK 13A plug. There is also no UK-specific pricing or availability date. The BSI product standard for plug-in solar kits is expected in July 2026, and that is the most likely trigger for a UK variant to appear.

What this means for you: If you are waiting for a premium storage-integrated plug-in system, Anker Solix will likely launch a UK version later this year -- but it will cost significantly more than the entry-level kits arriving from Lidl and Iceland. The basic 800W kit market and the storage-integrated market are shaping up to be two distinct products at two distinct price points.
